Highlights from July - August 2008

Greetings

The year of 2008 has been a mix up of emotions as one minute there is a smile on Jennie face the next there are tears coming out of her eyes, but at every outreach the Ministry has attended there has been an opportunity to share Jesus Love with others, perhaps more now then ever. We have been tested in so many ways; physical, emotional, financial and more, but God remains faithful as you help us with your prayers.

July was the Big Hollister Rally Sue Neander wrote a good article on that event.

Hollister Motorcycle Rally – July 12, 13 “With God all things are possible” – Matthew 19:26 and Mark 10:27.  Hollister was a reminder of just that. To begin with, Bill and I arrived on Saturday morning and walked up and down vendors’ row on the street where the program said the JC & Us Ministries booth should be, but we could not find the booth. At first we thought it must have been re-located to some obscure corner off the beaten path, but instead, God had placed Rich and Jennie right smack dab in the middle of the vendors’ village on Fourth & Monterey, and the village was packed with passersby all day long. In fact, during the afternoon hours, Bev, Joe, and their friends from Feeding God’s Children literally had to set up an assembly line to keep pace with all the children who wanted a “Jesus Loves You” balloon. And the word of God was going out just as quickly to the adults who came by the booth. People were taking Hellfighter New Testaments and rag tracts all day long, and the black socks with the tracts inside were completely gone by mid afternoon.  By Sunday afternoon, we were giving out JC & Us Ministries cards to everyone who came by to look at the Boss Hosses, because we did not have any of the other items on hand, but then the Ministry was blessed with some Scripture Coins.  The good news is that while they thought the card was so they could call if they had any Boss Hoss questions, it just so happens that we gave out the cards that also have the plan of salvation on the back.  (Thank you, Eric, for teaching us that trick!!!)

That amount of outreach was all made possible by the number of servants who answered God’s call. He truly provided in a miraculous way. We literally had shifts of people for this rally. Cross Motorcycle Ministries with chapters in nearby Los Baños and Gilroy were there in force Saturday morning, greeting every person who walked past the booth.  They were awesome! In the afternoon, a full replacement crew arrived, which allowed us to have some people manning the booth while the rest went over to help Rich and Jennie with the bike games. Natalie was keeping the times while Bruce, Joe and I attempted to be fair and impartial judges. We quickly came to understand why Jennie refers to the games as “nerve wracking,” but praise the Lord it went smoothly. After all the stressful competition, Natalie and Tami got on Jennie’s trike and gave an impressive demonstration of two-up-driver-blindfolded maneuvering.

With so many ministering, God’s word and His spirit went out to more than we could ever count. On Saturday, Jennie had the opportunity to minister one-on-one with a local policeman who was hurting emotionally. After he shared all that is going on in his life, Jennie was able to encourage him. On Sunday, an awesome Christian music group out of San Luis Obispo called Street Choir joined us for the morning service, and their soundman was just the best! If you have been to a JC & Us rally service, you know the vendors are often busy setting up their booths or perhaps standing around their booth, so the better the sound, the more God’s word is heard clearly by everyone in the larger area. At the Hollister vendors village where the service took place, there was a large recruiting booth for a 3-piece-patch group, and while no one came forward for the altar call, we know that with the great sound system in place, everyone at the recruiting booth heard about God’s love and His plan of salvation. They also got a personal invitation from Rich Hardesty and from the brothers with Cross Ministries – and the invitation went out loud and clear!

Rich had a phone call from a man who received a Hell Fighters New Testament from a fellow biker. We give them out free at the rallies with a sticker in them that has our phone number so anyone can contact us if they have any question. Well the man that called was talking with Rich and Rich had the opportunity to lead him to the Lord.

July 19 B.A.C.A. in Sacramento. Ken Duffy the newest member of this Ministry came along to help as did Bill and Sue. With so many bikers to share with it was a great time of ministry! There were some outlaw bikers and one of their prospects was drawn to Jennie’s trike and even sat on it for a time and later he did some bead crafts which these two of the many tools God has given this ministry provided an opportunity to show a man on the path to ever-increasing darkness the freedom that is found only in the light of God.

July 29 we left for Sturgis with Ron Ogren on board. Ron has a dynamite testimony of the life giving power of God since he was dead and in the morgue for three hours and then was raised to life. He shared his testimony at the Gentle Eagle Campground were we stay. Bob and Chris a wonderful Christian couple who use this camp as a tool to reach the lost for Jesus own the camp. The flyer that we put up in town and around the camp said, “COME AND SEE RON OGREN, Dead and in the morgue for three hours, Come and hear A dead man talking, Wednesday Aug. 6th”, got peoples attention. The camp serves a free BBQ each night and that night was a special outreach as the lost came to hear about the Miracle and the Love of Jesus. When we arrived the Camp there was no BBQ so Eric, Ron and Rich went to the camps surplus spot were they assemble a Red neck BBQ as you can see from the picture. Of course, on each Sunday we have a short Church Service. There were at least two salvations in camp and at least one on the streets.

We spend one day helping another Christian group at the Free Bike Wash. We washed bikes and prayed with the owners, but they also have people shining shoes and praying for people. In addition, they have free bratwurst; soft serve ice cream, drinks and literature all in an effort to reach the lost for Jesus.

Eric Towle was also at Sturgis. He picked a new old motorcycle in Greenbay Wisconsin on June 13 and met us there. It is a 1941 military BMW with sidecar and draws a crowd wherever it is parked.

Alone with another Christian group we did a program at the convalescent home in Sturgis where we gave out the nice bags that were made for the Ministry.

Jennie and Randy her ventriloquist doll worked the Streets of Sturgis for two mornings and it was great.

Rich performed a wedding in a tattoo parlor a real sweet couple that worked there. Rich always counsels with them before the wedding.

Eric, Ron, Rich and Jennie & Randy pasted out 300 Scripture Biker Rags, 12 doz Children Bags, 120 Men and Ladies Shower Bags. All that the Ministry gives out has God WORD in it.

We shared with many people and many seeds were planted.

Every year we think it’s the best year, 2008 was a GREAT MINISTRY year, prayed and talked with many, and NO fires (for the ones that don’t know we had a bad fire in our bus and trailer going home last year).  Eric broke down in Casper Wy. so we picked him up with his motorcycle on the way home. We left Sunday at 12:30 p.m. from Sturgis arrived in Elk Grove at 4 p.m. on Monday. We had two drivers and two co-pilots and were able to cover a lot of ground.

August 17 we attended Feeding God’s Children City Outreach where they gave the school age children backpacks for the school year. Each received a Jesus Loves Me Balloon and Sue was there delighting the children as a happy clown providing each child a special balloon made just for them. It was a good outreach and because it was held at there Church and it made the people feel welcome.

August is not over but the rest of the month will be in our next newsletter.

Jennie was feeling discourage because of the hard year we have had, but Rich said look at the trip we had to Sturgis. We had no breakdowns because of all the people that have been praying for us. And we thank you so much. Please keep our family in your prayers. We know there is great power in prayer.
